Tarik Irving Kindell Scholarship Fund
(September 21, 1998 – May 30, 2021)
Tarik Kindell traveled to Nicaragua as a young man to volunteer with his friends and Comunidad Connect. He spent time in the community of Los Robles (pop. 2,100) working side by side with local residents on projects that directly improved the quality of life of families living in dire situations. He helped build houses, concrete floors, and clean cookstoves. His smile was contagious and he brought joy to every scenario: on the worksite, around the fire after dinner, on the bus, and even early in the morning when the chickens woke him up a bit earlier than he was used to!
He treasured the opportunity to travel and do good. With his mother Diane, we have established a fund for others who also aspire to travel to Los Robles but would otherwise not be able to afford it. Tarik’s giving spirit lives on in the Tarik Irving Kindell Scholarship Fund. All donations to this fund are tax-deductible and are designated for its stated purpose – to help young people travel with Comunidad Connect that would otherwise not be able to afford it.
