Two weeks ago we presented our fourth edition of Songs For Good. In case you missed it, you can watch it on our website.

Songs For Good united our musical friends from across the world to raise funds and awareness for 15 special needs patients in Nicaragua. These patients are part of our ‘Together For Health’ program, an initiative started in 2014 to provide a continuum of care and support to patients with varying degrees of special medical needs.
Check out the music videos, share the presentation with others, and please consider a gift to support our Together For Health program. Click here to watch.

Our Cultural Connections program took two groups of students and faculty to the Dominican Republic in May. Occupational Therapy students and professors from Georgia State University visited over 50 patients providing therapy and working with family caregivers.

Director of Community Development, Yarisleidy Cortez, started an English class a few weeks in Los Robles, Nicaragua. “The kids are very interested in learning English. It started as an impromptu idea suggested by a few kids, but now the class has grown to about 20 with more looking to join,” Cortez said. “They have a vision for their future. The parents are committed too, and that is very important.”

Communidad Connect began its journey of community development in Nicaragua by promoting and organizing youth sports over 15 years ago. This work continues in the town of San Juan del Sur where a generation of young athletes and their families have grown up participating in organized sports managed by Comunidad Connect.
In 2023, our work with youth and sports is expanding to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic in partnership with Proyecto Montemar Jose Nuñez Sports Club. Comunidad Connect is sponsoring the inaugural league of Futsala, in addition to collaborating with Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Volleyball and Karate programs. The Futsala league is recruiting athletes from Puerto Plata (pop. 62,000) to train with coach Dewa Sudjono and form soccer teams of all ages to compete and enjoy the fastest-growing sport in the Dominican Republic.
