The first of 38 safe sanitation systems have been installed in Los Robles, Nicaragua! This milestone marks a transformative step toward addressing the community’s urgent need for sanitary toilet facilities and proper wastewater management.
Each system installed means improved health, dignity, and a cleanerfuturefor families. By reducing exposure to harmful waste and providing a sustainable solution, this initiative is not just about sanitation, it’s aboutcreatinglasting change for generations to come.
Don Lupe lays out the blueprint for the septic system
In 2024, a community of people in Atlanta partnered with a community of people in rural Nicaragua to solve their generational problem of open defecation. Comunidad Connect raised $50,000 tobuild38 safe sanitation systems for families in the community of Los Robles, where over 65% of the population use the bathroom in the open air. Our model improves hygiene, sanitation, safety, and dignity of individuals
The “biodigestor” is installed
We convert plastic tanks into “biodigestores” that can manage a family’s human waste for up to 35 years. Three truckloads of tanks arrived in Los Robles in February 2025 and our first “Baños For Good” have been completed.
The bathroom is safe and secure
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to our generous donors and the neighbors of Los Robles that aremakingour Baños For Good project a dream come true for 38 families in 2025. Hundreds of families continue to use the bathroom outside. If you would like to help usbuildmore Baños For Good, you can do so bymakinga donationand you can alsovisit Los Robles in personto work alongside local neighbors and our field staff.
Another happy family with their first bathroom, ever!
Together, we aremakingan incredible difference in the lives of others.
THANK YOU!
