Our community came together and celebrated in October. We finished the construction of a new home for Nicolasa Rizo and her five children in Los Robles. In Atlanta, we threw on costumes and danced the night away in honor of Dr. Ben Thrower while raising over $35, 000 for our special needs patients in Nicaragua. And…we welcomed four new members to our board of directors! Our community continues to grow, which drives our ability to impact the lives of others. Thank you for following along, sharing our story with others and supporting our work. Together, we are connecting communities that care.
Nicolasa Rizo and her five children were living in a shelter made of plastic and sleeping together in one bed on a muddy floor. Nicolasa’s friends and neighbors met with our field staff in Nicaragua to advocate on her behalf. Our community of support in the U.S. donated the necessary funds for our Director of Community Development, Yarisleidy Cortez, to buy materials and contract local builders. And now, Nicolasa and her children have a dignified home!

Bentoberfest 2019: Together For Health was a huge success! Despite the pouring rain, over 120 friends of Comunidad Connect and the Thrower Family came out in support of health programming in Nicaragua, raising over $35,000 in corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and ticket sales.
